Old Mulkeytown founded in 1820, new Mulkeytown
platted in 1879. Named after the Rev. John
Mulkey. |

Grade School - 3120 Schoolhouse
Rd. Restorations
continues on this former elementary school,
but exhibits are in place, and range from
coal to Indian artifacts. Open Tuesdays,
and sometimes on Thursdays. For

- Silkwood
Inn - Near Mulkeytown (see
picture above)
Built in 1857 this old inn has been restored
and furnished by the Mulkeytown Area Historical
Society. It is the only remaining
structure along the old Shawneetown-Kaskaskia
Trail that connected Southern Illinois
communities in the early 1800's.
Open from noon to 4 p.m.
